We will keep fighting for all libraries - stand with us!
The Hatchet was the Washington University yearbook for over 100 years. It was first published in 1903 and the last volume was printed in 2011. The Bernard Becker Medical Library provides online access to all the yearbooks printed between 1903 to 1928 in . A physical set of most volumes can be found at the Becker Library Archives, and the Washington University Archives in Olin Library retains a complete set of all Hatchet yearbooks.
The Hatchet yearbooks highlight all the Schools at Washington University including Arts and Sciences, Law, Dental, Medicine, Nursing, and Art. The yearbooks also provide photographs and information about undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, fraternities and sororities, sports teams, and student life.
It is important to note that until 1941, the Hatchet contained information about the previous years’ senior class. For instance, a student who graduated in 1935 would be listed in the senior class for the yearbook published in 1936.
